Description
This is the LAST of my ORIGINAL and GOOD condition "MIL-K-818" specification pocket knives which was issued beginning in 1944 in the U.S. Army Air Force's "B" series of survival kits issued to airmen during WWII. The knife has stainless steel grips, brass liners and carbon steel blades. This knife should not be confused with the later 1960-70's issue Mil-K knives, which were dated on the ricasso of the main blade and
did not have brass liners
.  Unusually, this knife has
NO maker's name
, thereby making it "sterile" for security purposes (lend-lease or clandestine usage?), but it is missing the bale or clevis, which may have had the manufacturer's name on it.  The other unusual aspect of this knife brought to my attention is that the "U.S." on the grips or scales appear to be over-stamped,
leading me to speculate that a change to the MIL-K specification may have occurred mid-production of this knife
.  There are four blades, as shown below in the close-up images. The blades are in need of cleaning/polishing and the main blade has been heavily sharpened.  The knife either never had a bale or swivel or it was neatly removed.
