    Description

    My name is Cameron.
I am a metallurgical engineer that loves nice knives and restoring those of high quality and historical significance.
This is a World War 2 PAL RH (Remington) 36 knife.  The original handle had some leather spacers missing and the pommel had some corrosion.  The blade however was outstanding.  I removed all original spacers and the pommel and sanded the tang .
I drilled and shaped the custom guard from cold worked .188" X 0.75" brass flat bar. The beautiful desert ironwood (Olneya Tesota) handle was made by boring a slot just over the tang thickness and width; the wood handle is one piece.  The black end rings are water buffalo horn spacers.  Red fiber board spacers trim off the handle.  I drilled and milled a tang slot in a brass bar section and drilled a pilot hole for a tang pin.  The slots in the guard, pommel, and trim pieces are good slip fits.  All pieces fit up flush and tight.  They were assembled first using high strength Devcon long setting epoxy.  After curing, I shaped the handle, guard, and pommel.  I then finish-drilled the pommel pin hole and drove a high strength rod pin through the tang.  The handle and pommel were shaped and then sanded to 3000 grit paper prior to applying multiple coats of Tru Oil to the handle. The blade was finished to 1500 grit paper.  The knife feels outstanding in the hand and looks great. I am including the custom thick leather sheath shown.
