RARE US MILITARY 1945 LEGITIMUS COLLINS & CO MACHETE AND SHEATH

Description

This sale offers a vintage and original Machete marked 'LUS Legitimus Collins & Co 1945" and includes canvas sheath. The machete measures a total length of 23-1/4", and the blade itself measures 18" long and 2-1/4" at its widest point. The markings are very clear on the blade (see picture). Great patina on the blade and handle. The blade has some surface pitting throughout, and some darker discoloration.
The blade is straight and generally very nice.
The handle has some mild wear and scrapes and is tightly attached and very solid.
The sheath is canvas and there are markings on both sides of the sheath, and while visible, they are too faint for me to declare a branch of service.  The sheath is lightly soiled, rivets are rusted, and the stitching has given way on both sides from the forward-most rivet to the tip. The majority of stitching is in very good shape though.
However, the the cool thing is that the sheath is very visibly stained by blood which you can see in the pictures!
Belt hooks are in place.  Sheath measures 19" long x 2-3/4" wide. In all, a very worthy piece for the WW2 military collector.  Payment via Paypal.
