Van Briggle Art Pottery Swirling Leaf Bowl

Van Briggle Art Pottery Swirling Leaf Bowl swirling tulip leaf or swirling lotus leaf. It appears as though it was once used as a planter as there is lime build up inside and insome of the cuts at the bottom of leaves.  I have shown this in multiple pictures.  I am not comfortable with removing this as I am not knowledgeable of the best way to remove lime buildup without damaging the piece. Other than that there are no chips or cracks. I listed  it as red but is more of a redish brown, wouldn't say maroon as it looks more brown tones than red.
