WWII Issue USMC Boyt 1945 Scabbard W/ Trench Art Bear W/Salmon In Mouth On Back

This  auction is for a Boyt, dated 1945, USMC leather scabbard.  Reverse side painted black.  On the black side is an etched (carved) bear with a salmon in his mouth.  It actually looks like a whole mountain scene like you might see in Alaska or Pacific Northwest.  The entire scene, including the mountains, goes the whole length of the scabbard.  We think this might be trench art from WWII.  Scabbard is 11 3/4" long with the curl in the end.  Possibly originally 12 inches long.  That is the sum total of what we know about this scabbard.
We are NOT military experts so we'll let our photos tell the story.   We were told by a  military specialist that the scabbard was for a Scout Knife.  We're taking his word for it.  We have no doubt that you'll know a lot more about this than we do  Please read Condition Description for more details.  This one is too heavy to ship First Class.
